How We Protect Your Footage

At Move Mountains Co., your memories are irreplaceable—and we treat them that way. Our data security system is built with redundancy, reliability, and long-term protection at every step. Here’s how we handle your footage after your event:

1. Same-Night Server Backup

Right after your event, your footage is backed up to our internal server that same night. This ensures your content is immediately secured before any editing or transfer processes begin.

2. Cloud Backup via Dropbox

Our server is connected to the cloud through Dropbox, which creates an additional backup stored securely offsite. This cloud backup has a 10-year file retention window, meaning we can recover footage for up to a decade after upload.

3. Secondary Offsite Backup

Your footage is also sent to a third-party offsite server, creating a second offsite backup for added peace of mind. This means your footage exists in multiple locations, even in the unlikely event of equipment failure or natural disaster.

4. Redundant Server Protection (RAID 6)

Both our internal and external servers are configured with RAID 6 technology. This means we can lose up to two hard drives in any system without compromising your data. That’s military-grade redundancy, built in.

5. Memory Card Retention

We do not delete memory cards until after your final project is fully delivered. This ensures that we always have a working copy available during the editing and delivery process.

6. Ultra-Low Failure Rate

Thanks to this layered system of backups and safeguards, our data failure rate is nearly zero. We go above and beyond to make sure your footage is protected at every turn.

A Quick Note on Client Responsibility

While we do everything possible to secure and protect your footage, clients are ultimately responsible for backing up their own final files after delivery.

We maintain your footage for 60 days post-delivery. After that, all footage is permanently deleted from our systems.

If you would like a long-term copy:

  • We offer external hard drives loaded with your footage, available for purchase and shipping.

  • Or, you can download and store the footage yourself once delivered.

For best practices, we recommend:

  • Keeping two separate physical copies (on external drives)

  • And one cloud-based backup (such as Google Drive, iCloud, or Dropbox)

Following this "3-2-1" backup strategy ensures your memories stay safe—forever.
