Alfredo + Paige

Providence, RI

Today, we’re switching things up on the blog with a proposal shoot we did a few weeks back. This one felt extra special for us, because they are 2 of our dear friends here at Move Mountains Co. Alfredo + Paige are 2 of the most fun-loving and thoughtful people who you’ll always find with genuine smiles on their faces. They both have a special gift to make people feel cared for and deeply loved. So it was only fitting for Alfredo to propose in one of their favorite cities, Providence, Rhode Island, surrounded by friends who are more like family. Take a look at some of our favorite moments that we captured during this stunning sunset proposal!

Special shoutout to the Providence Police Department for being so helpful and understanding as we worked to pull off this surprise proposal on the Providence Pedestrian Bridge!

Jake + Desma

Belle Mer

Newport, RI

This wedding was all about the details for us. Individually, the details were clean and simple but together, they were show-stopping! We had so much fun shooting Jake + Desma’s wedding at one of our favorite Rhode Island wedding venues, Belle Mer. It was hard to choose, but here’s a few of our favorite shots from the day (get your wedding inspo pinterest board ready)!

William + Naomi

Fort Wetherill, RI

You know those sessions that are just simple and fun? Well this was one of those! We met up with William & Naomi on a beautiful summer night in Fort Wetherill, RI to do an engagement styled photo and video shoot. They were down for an adventure which allowed us to get the most out of this location, all while capturing their sweet moments that happened along the way.

Chris + Brianna

The Atlantic Resort Newport

Newport, RI

Chris and Brianna’s wedding took place at the beautiful Atlantic Resort in Newport, Rhode Island. One thing we loved about their wedding was the flair of drama that was mixed into all the romantic elements of the day. Every detail came together to create a stunning wedding day for an amazing couple!

Josh + Alex

Beavertail State Park

Jamestown, RI

Josh + Alex’s engagement session took place at the beautiful Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, RI. We had such a fun time shooting this adventurous engagement session. All of the surrounding elements definitely played into the stunning images from this shoot - from the lighthouse, to the ocean, to the dunes. The results were dramatic and romantic, yet still soft and intimate. Sessions like this one make us excited for the couples’ upcoming wedding date! Until then, take a look at a few of our favorite images from Josh + Alex’s engagement shoot.

Fort Adam's and Her Siren

Inspiration and Initiative

This shoot was inspired by Ben Sasso's work! if you don't know who he is make sure you check out his stuff. I love his style, the type of models he chooses, his often odd prop choices, simple wardrobe choices, and his willingness to help other artists like myself, as I attribute 95% of my photography knowledge from pestering other photographers.

Fort Adam's and Her Siren

Fort Adam's was built in 1798 and named after President John Adam's and was active in five major wars. Today it's a State Park, has a great vibe and is a great place to shoot (no pun intended). The inner rooms are covered in old shiplap and there are antique couches floating around that are great for creative shoots, wedding shoots and engagement photos!

I'd been wanting to shoot at Fort Adam's ever since we helped load film for John Abbott as he photographed up and coming Jazz artist's at the Newport's Jazz Festival or maybe it's been since my best friend got married there back in 2015 (truly a unique wedding venue!)

Since we are mostly in the wedding photography game it's rare that we get a chance to get to work on purely creative projects but it's always a joy when we are able to. This was the first time I had shot Briana and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. She was perfect for the fort and brought the exact energy to the shoot that I hoped she would, although as hard as I persisted she would not play that trumpet (or bugle, not pictured).

Frequency Separation

For photographers...

For the editing I used Ben Sasso's Heck Yeah Presets (The Bright Pack) with Lightroom/Photoshop and a method of photo retouching called frequency separation. It was my second time working with this method. I originally went with using the first tutorial I found on Youtube here, but wasn't getting the results I wanted. I emailed Ben and he sent over the video that he learned from which seems like an even more time consuming method but I think the results are better (however, at that point I was about 75% through the photos and couldn't start over). That video can be found here

If you look at the results of the process, it is definitely worth the time invested.

CASTLE HILL INN

We were shooting video for this one but growing up I loved Mustangs so I had to snag some photos in-between shooting video. Castle Hill Inn, in Newport, RI is always a beautiful spot to have your wedding.
